With the Jamaica Football Federation revamping its operations, looking into a new coach, restarting the Cash Plus Premier League, new and exciting times await fans of the sport.

One of those very exciting things is Waterhouse’s Ramon Bailey. With just a few games gone in the country’s top-flight league, it’s very early to call this player a gem, but I will brave the waters and say it.

Ramon is one of those players in the country with exceptional talent. Playing his football abroad, the average height midfielder, with no particular physical presence about him, has certainly made his presence felt among the Waterhouse faithful and those opponents he challenges in the middle of the park.

While Waterhouse cannot boast of a sparkling start to their season, they can’t say they are disappointed with the young man’s performances. As a matter of fact, the 24-year-old from Mercer Community College and the New York Metro Stars, who also has a stint in Finland is probably playing the best football at central midfield in and outside of the country.

He obviously has quality, his positional sense is excellent and he doesn’t seem prone to making silly mistakes. Last season, I spoke about the virtues of Vincent Earle and his sense of position, the difference with Bailey, who has taken Earle’s place in the line-up is his ability to increase the pace of his game and drive the team forward.

In this week’s players to watch, I am declaring, take a look at Ramon Bailey.
