Nelson fires Portmore back to the top

Roen Nelson scored four times as Portmore United clobbered Tivoli Gardens 4-2 in the feature Cash Plus Premier League match to regain pole position.

Nelson scored in the 14th, 43rd, 65th and 70th minutes as Portmore had to come from behind to defeat Tivoli in their top-of-the-table clash at the Edward Seaga Stadium.

Dicarded national striker Roland Dean gave the home fans a lot to cheer about when he tapped home from close range in the 10th minute.

It was a bright start for Tivoli Gardens but then Nelson became the star of the night with his four-timer which propelled him to the top of the goalscoring chart with 11 goals.

In fact, it was the second time Nelson was achieving this feat, having banged in four against August Town on January 13 in his first game of the season.

Substitute Jermaine Gray scored a 90th minute goal to reduce the deficit to shore up a dismal home performance from Tivoli Gardens.

Portmore continued their dominance over Tivoli Gardens winning two of their three meeting for the season.

The St Catherine-based Portmore are on 47 points, one above the displaced leader Tivoli Gardens on 46.

Over at the Compound, home team Harbour View returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 whipping of sporting Central Academy.

Goals by Rafiek Thomas in the 34th minute, Kemeel Wolfe in the 50th and Lovel Palmer in the 90th minutes, sealed Harbour View's first win in eight games.

It was the champion's first win since January 13 when they beat Seba United 4-2 but they stayed in fifth place on 37 points.

The Clarendon outfit Sporting Central dropped a spot to 10th on 29 points after suffering their 11th loss of the season.

Meanwhile Village United continued their impressive run their fifth win in six games with a 1-0 win over August Town in the bottom of the table clash at the Elliston Wakeland Centre.

Ian McAnuff left it extremely late scoring a freekick in the 90th minute as Village jumped two spots from 11th to ninth in the standing on 29 points.

The Trelawny-based team, coached by Paul "Tegat" Davis was notching only their seventh win of the season as they continue to climb away out of the relegation zone.

After languishing at the bottom of the table since the start of the competition in October, are two points and two places above the relegation zone.

Relegation favourite August Town were suffering their 12th loss and remain rooted to the bottom on 21 points, six points behind the second to last team Reno FC with 12 games remaining.

At Drewsland, home team Waterhouse surrendered a two goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Reno.

The young and talented Kenardo Forbes, opened the scoring for Waterhouse in the 43rd minute before Jomo Gordon doubled the lead in the 46th minute.

But two goals in three minutes in the second half by Reno were enough for a share of the points.

Draian McNain in the 62nd and Nyron Davis in the 65th minutes spoiled the day for the title chasing Waterhouse.

Waterhouse have not won in six games but are still third on 39 points while Reno dropped a spot into the relegation zone on 27 points.

Over in Lynch Park in Portland, the visiting Seba United edged St George's 1-0 courtesy of a Ricardo Geddes strike in the 35th minute.

It was Seba's second win of the campaign over St George's, which also allowed them to leapfrog over their opponent into sixth position.

Seba out of St James, moved to 34 points while St George's are on 33 points four more than the idled Arnett Gardens on 29 points.
