Title challengers Harbour View and Waterhouse slip up

Both Harbour View and Waterhouse suffered defeats and missed the chance of closing the gap on the top two teams as the Cash Plus Premier League round twenty three (23) was completed today.

Harbour View slumped to a 0-2 loss to St George's FC while Waterhouse succumbed 0-1 Seba United while Boys' Town edged August Town 1-0.

At the Harbour View Mini-Stadium, the visiting St George's continued their dominance over the champions winning two of their three clashes this season.

Two goals by Brian Wollaston in the 60th and 83rd minutes gave the promoted St George's their first away win of the season and their ninth overall.

It was sixth and seventh goals of the season as he climbs up the goal-scoring chart to joint sixth.

The Donovan Duckie-coached unit out of Portland, continue to surprise pundits and stayed in fifth position on 32 points.

They have closed the gap to just one behind Harbour View on 33 and must be considering themselves genuine title challengers — if Harbour View thinks so.

Harbour View, the Caribbean Club champion have not won in five games and are languishing 10 points behind the leader Portmore and might have just conceded the title.

Over at Jarrett Park, St James team Seba also continued the dominance over the title-chasing Waterhouse, putting a minor dent into their push towards the championship.

A Mario Samuels goal in the 46th minute was enough for Seba to win their three match series against Waterhouse.

On the opening day of the season Seba edged Waterhouse 4-3, drew 1-1 in the second round and now 1-0.

Seba stayed in seventh spot on 31 points as only two points separate fourth from seventh.

Waterhouse, which was losing their second game in three outings, stayed on 36 in third, some six points off the lead with 15 games remaining.

Meanwhile Boys' Town have quietly gone about their business edging August Town 1-0 at the UWI Bowl.

Lloyd struck in the 57th minute as Boys' Town secured their seventh win of the campaign to move to 32 points while holding down sixth spot.

Lloyd broke free inside the six-yard box and made no mistake.

Boys' Town bolstered by the return of top players Denzil Watson and the hard-kicking George Vernal, turned in work-man-like performance.

On the other hand August Town was clearly missing the midfield general, Daniel Shaw, who is also the teams and the league's leading marksman with 10 goals.

The Hugh MaCarthy-coached August Town are firmly at the bottom of the 12-team league on 21 points.

At the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, home team Arnett Gardens had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Reno FC.

Arnett although dominating the entire proceedings, fell behind in the 39th minute when Reno made one of their few forays into the Arnett half.

The powerful Ricardo Scott latched onto a pass from just inside the box and fired home pass the hapless Julian McLeish in goal.

But Arnett was not to be denied and substitute Horace Sharpe, found the equaliser in the 69th minute nodding home from close range after Onandi Lowe's header fell nicely for him.

Arnett and Reno which started the day on 24 points, inched to 25 with Reno staying ahead in ninth place while Arnett remained in 10th spot.
