Meadhaven will have to wait while Rivoli step closer

Persistent rain slowed Meadhaven United's march toward the National Premier League (NPL) while Rivoli United inched closer to second spot.

Heavy rain brought Meadhaven's game against Wadadah game to premature end after 65 minutes with the game locked at 0-0 at the UDC field in St James yesterday.

Meadhaven from KSAFA remain on nine points from three games and need only a win to secure promotion to the top flight.

Meanwhile MoBay-based outfit Wadadah remained pointless from three games and need a miracle to return to the premier league.

At the Spanish Prison Oval, home team Rivoli United were held to a 1-1 draw by York United

Fidel Anderson opened the scoring for Rivoli in the 33rd minute before Gregory Beckford nodded home in the 63rd minute to level the score.

The result left the battle for the second qualifying spot still up for grabs with two games remaining.

St Catherine's Rivoli moved to seven points, two behind leaders Meadhaven on nine with York of St Thomas on four points.

Only two of the four teams will advance to the top flight.

The competition continues on Wednesday with leaders Meadhaven hosting Rivoli at the Constant Spring field and Wadadah travelling to York Sports Complex.
