FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, the National Senior Women’s Team, the Reggae Girlz, will face Canada in the semi-finals of the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup. The game will be played at 4:30pm (7:30pm Jamaica time) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Attacking midfielders Omolyn Davis, Hishamar Falconer and Yolanda Hamilton will join the Reggae Girlz ahead of this afternoon’s game. The three all play football at Lindsay Wilson College and were instrumental in taking their team to the finals of the 2006 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women’s Soccer Tournament.

The second semi-final at 7:00pm (10:00pm Jamaica time) features the defending champions, USA, against Mexico.

The winner of each semi-final advances to the finals and automatically qualifies for the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The losers will play for the third place; the third place finisher has a home and away playoff against Japan for a final spot in the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Today’s semi-final games will be broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel at 7:30pm and 10pm (Jamaica time)
