JFF sells Reggae Boyz International Matches to SportsMax parent, IMC

 

 

Kingston, Jamaica, March 15, 2007-

 The Jamaica Football Federation (“JFF”), announced today an agreement with International Media Content Limited (“IMC”), parent company of regional sports cable channel, SportsMax, for the exclusive local and international television broadcast rights & license for all Reggae Boyz International matches from 2007 through 2010 played in Jamaica with an option for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers played in Jamaica . This will include approximately 24 fixtures based on the JFF mandate of securing a minimum of six friendly international matches per annum for the senior men’s team at the National Stadium. IMC concurrently announced that it has entered into an agreement with CVM-TV in Jamaica for shared broadcast of the Reggae Boys matches through 2010 and will kick-off with the Jamaica v Panama match scheduled for March 26 at the National Stadium. 

JFF’s broadcast deal with IMC means that all television rights related to the broadcast of the Reggae Boyz International Friendly home matches, including live, delayed and repeat television broadcast, internet broadband or videotaped coverage, film or any other audiovisual transmission has been secured by SportsMax’s parent company. 

IMC’s broadcast rights extends to all territories worldwide, with the television coverage to be shown locally on CVM-TV & Fox Soccer Channel Jamaica, regional coverage in some 19 Caribbean Countries on SportsMax, and extending to North America and Canada on Fox Soccer Channel.  

Pat Rousseau, Chairman of IMC, explains “IMC has been instrumental in ensuring that local and international coverage of Jamaica’s football, particularly through our most popular team, the Reggae Boyz, will receive the unprecedented international exposure it requires. This is another big step for IMC in our goal of remaining the leading provider of sports content in the Caribbean, and serving as a partner with the JFF to extend our football into markets throughout and outside of the Caribbean”.

President of the Jamaica Football Federation, Crenston Boxhill concurs, “We believe that IMC, through their ownership of SportsMax, and partnership with Fox Soccer Channel and CVM TV, represents the type of partnership the JFF needs because of their commitment and passion to local football. “  He continued “We have the utmost confidence in SportsMax’s and CVM’s ability to deliver an excellent television product. Due to SportsMax’s position on the international broadcast stage, this deal will inevitably benefit us in the promotional development of Jamaica’s football internationally.” 

Dr. David McBean, President and CEO of the CVM-TV Group Limited stated, “We continue to strengthen our inventory of sports content and believe that there is no better foundation for being number one in sports than broadcasting the Reggae Boys.” He also pointed out that “the relationship between IMC and CVM-TV will allow unprecedented coverage of Jamaican club and international football.”  

SportsMax, through parent company IMC, had recently signed a deal with the JFF for coverage of the Red Stripe Champions Cup in the Caribbean and North America, as well as a deal with JD International to be host broadcasters in the Caribbean for FIFA World Cup Properties through 2014, including the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. SportsMax, CVM-TV and Fox Soccer Channel’s coverage of the Reggae Boys matches kicks off on March 26, 2007 when Jamaica’s Senior Men’s team faces Panama at the National Stadium.

IMC is incorporated in St. Lucia and is the 100% owner of SportsMax Limited (“SportsMax”). IMC’s primary business is the acquisition of television and radio broadcasting rights for international, regional and local sporting events.
