FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

President of the Jamaica Football Federation, Crenston Boxhill, leaves the island today for Toronto. He will be the main speaker at a fundraising banquet being put on by the Caribbean Selects Football Club on Saturday, November 18.

The Caribbean Selects Football Club is the first All Caribbean Sports Club in the Canadian Soccer League and made its debut in the league in April 2006.

80% of the team’s membership is Jamaican with the other 20% being of wider Caribbean nationality. Also of note is that the club is the recipient of the 2006 Fair Play Award in the Canadian Soccer League.

Mr. Boxhill will then travel to Miami to support the National Senior Women’s Team, the Reggae Girlz, as they participate in the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup. The Girlz face Panama on Sunday, November 19 at 5pm Jamaica time.

The Women’s Gold Cup qualifies the top 2 teams in the tournament to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in China. The third place team will have a home and away playoff against Japan also for a place in the World cup.

Upon his return, the Federation will host a Press Conference where Mr. Boxhill will address issues around the appointment of a Technical Director for the National Football Programme.
