What can be doneto improve the quality in the National Premier League?

Coaching is an art and therefore must be looked upon as a specialist position.
For too long we have sat back and allowed people to come forward sit a written exam talk two things about football and they have become a big coach.

Passing a Level 2 exam to be eligible to coach a premier league team is just not enough.
We have seen over the years where teams have possessed a lot of quality players but they just cant rise to the occasion to show their true potential on the field of play. The technical capabilities of a lot of these coaches leaves a lot to be desired.

All soccer coaches need to be taught the fundamentals from the beginning. They must start from the age group level to learn the propper technique of coaching. All that is needed to know must be learned from that stage. They must then be assigned to work with the technical people who will assess them and see how they are progressing then make a recommendation to the relevant authorities if they should move from that stage of coaching to the next.

A year to year assessment must be done,Continue upgrading of the coaches knowledge and changes to the game must be an ongoing thing.Remember people make their livelihood from the sport so they must put a lot of quality into it.

A coaching school must be established so that all coaches must attend the refreshers courses and be taught the up to date methods.Coaching is no longer geting players warmed and then picking two sides to contest a game. No, its far from that.It is where proper teaching of the sport should be taugt as the players must be groomed properly for the advancement of the game as they get more mature in age.No major club has anytime to be teaching players the game all over again they should know that already.

After all that is done then the technical staff of the federation must now assign the best coaches out of the lot to work closely with the national coaching staff in otder for them to constantly be involved with the day to day activities of the programme so it will make things easier for them to teach the players at the club level so that as they aspire to the national programme they would not be found wanting when they are called.

As an added incentive the federation should then get those coaches that are now willing to learn the craft into overseas programmes such as countries like Holland,Argentina,Brasil and England where they will be able to work longside top clubs and coaches while they attend the coaching acadamies to continue to upgrade their trade.
The top coaches should be allowed to travel with the national teams on a rotation basis as part of their on the job training.Remember the coaches brains cannot become dormant so we have to ensure that they are kept occupied.

What can be doneto improve the quality in the National Premier League?

Improving The National Premier League

The national premier league which is the nations highest league needs some new and innovative ideas for it to have a long lasting effect.

1) The present format of having clubs been relegated at the end of each season has to be looked at for the future of the clubs.
It is costing each club a minimum of Twelve million dollars ($12,000,000.00) per year to participate in the competition, an investment which they will not get back in a short term development plan.
Each club should be sold a franchise for a period of no less than five years (5 years).
This will enable the club to put their house in order over this period in order to protect their investments. They will have enough time to set up proper marketing plans which will be sustainable to the club's financial needs. They will have enough time to have a proper football programme in place which will be profitable to them in a few years as the players will become marketable. The clubs will not have the problem of survival hanging over their heads but enough time to be building young players and getting proper coaches into their organizations so as to keep the business alive.
This will also give the clubs a chance to build on their fan base as you know that the climate in this country is not one for die hearted fans.

After this franchise period the clubs should be in a position to deal with the relegation system as they were given enough time to put their house in order.

The under 21 competition should also be scrapped from the premier league clubs but instead all those clubs should be mandated to play  all level of youth competitions within their confederations. Failing to do so will result in the clubs not been offered a franchise.
The JFF should then mandate each club to register at least ten (10) under 20 players to play in the league with a stipulation that they must get certain amount of playing time during the season. As a result of this the clubs will not have a lot of young players on their roster being stifilled but they would be on loans to other clubs, say super league and major league clubs which would guarantee them first team games which would help in their development for the future of the nation's football programme

The clubs will now have enough resources to go overseas and find quality players that they will be able to afford to pay to come and play in the league which will help not only the development of their players as they strive to maintain a high standard in order to command a first team place but will now start bringing out the band waggon spectators who has no problem paying at the turn stiles to see quality players.
To be continued
